Sept 6, 2008 BBQ Pit Party; Noon-9pm

HEY! The BBQ is still going on as planned!

The forecast is cool etc, and it WAS rainy this morning, but no more rain now! 8D
We're starting at noon and going until 9PM as planned.
No one is expected to stay or come for the whole thing so if you just want to pop by for some S'mores between lunch n supper or after supper you are welcome.
Ice tea will be served during the afternoon, and Nancy Shiplack is bringing over a BIG urn so we can keep some Hot Chocolate on hand for later in the day.
Dress warm!

BBQ Pit Party
Sept 6, 2008 (Weather Premitting)
Noon-9pm
2237 Edward Street
Sasktel folk: Please be advised that you can invite anyone you wish from the 7th floor, as well as a friend/beloved/kids.

If you come you'll see some old former StarTek pals as well as current Sasktel folks... And perhaps meet some new people.
Please advise how many people are coming with you and a rough idea of when you're coming!

This year's theme: We're supplying copious amounts of graham crackers & marshmallows, but you get to bring the topping (alcholic, chocoholic, or otherwise Bring Your Own Topping)...

Bring Your Own Food: Burgers/dogs & fixings if you like: we have quite a lot of room on our BBQ Pit, and we can also break out the new camp stove if necessary. And of course we get to christen the new BbQ kit I ordered for the Sasktel 100 Yr Old Birthday Present. We'll supply ketchup, mustard, relish & paper plates, plastic glasses.

BYOB: We shall make our green tea/white grape juice drink/lime (for those of you who enjoyed it at the garage sale & requested it again) - you have the option of course of adding your own choice of mixer to that (or it tastes very refreshing on its own as well), or of course bring what you'd like.

You can bring your kids, just keep in mind we don't have a gated yard and we're at a dead-end street with no houses to one side or across the street: lots of field, an old abandoned schoolyard (taken over by weeds and gophers), but also lots of lawn and trees in our yard.

If you bring your dog,
I'm sure you will be polite and bring a leash, bring something to clean up doggie messes, and please realize that there are other dogs in the neighbourhood (under leash or fenced, but they may be out in the field or alley with their owners, and a dog may be able to escape our yard or leap the short fence).

RECIPE IDEAS:
Some recipes for S'mores... Including some healthy choices and choices for diabetics.

Other options: more yummy stuff you could pierce with a stick and roast over coals.

Italian S'mores! Not for kids!

Raspberry Liqueur S'mores!

Here are some ideas for hamburgers and hotdogs:

- instead of typical hotdog buns, try President's Choice flatbread.

- cook up lots of onions, peppers, mushrooms and grate some cheese: if you wrap it in a hamburger or hotdog bun with tinfoil separately from your dog and cook them both; you get a yummy toasted burger or dog with fixins..

- choose stuff that tastes terrific inside hamburger mix: grated or chopped onion/chives/leeks, onion soup mix, flour or oats, chopped mushrooms, grated cheese, egg white, seasonings of your choice, honey, crushed or finely chopped garlic.
